About
- Campari Soda, with love from Italy
When I tell people I live in Italy the reaction is pretty predictable – everyone thinks it’s amazing. When I ask why, the answer is pretty predictable too… oh, it differs in that some people mention the culture, others the weather, others the fashion and still others the beautiful people; but the thing which always, and I mean always gets place of honour is… the food!
I have always been a complete foodie, as in obsessed with the stuff. Even throughout my diet filled teenage years, even if I didn’t want to eat it I liked making it, smelling it, looking at it. Now that I’m older, and understand there’s more to life than being a size zero, food has become one of my greatest passions. Moving to Italy was therefore something of a discovery for me!
Despite my rantings about food, I didn’t move here to eat (well, that too, but it’s not the main reason). I moved here because when I left Scotland to study in the North of France in far off 2005, I met an Italian boy. The rest, as they say, is history.
I now live in Salerno in the South of Italy with the Italian boy (my mum actually calls him this) and my rescue mutt May, I work as an executive assistant and translator/interpreter and do a lot of cooking. I try to go running now and then to stop myself from turning into a stereotypical Italian mamma – after all, I’m neither Italian nor a mamma – and enjoy posting my gastronomic experiences on this blog… if you are into food, especially Italian food, then I hope you’ll find something to whet your appetite – Enjoy!
